I like to doodle and sketch between paintings in order to come up with ideas. Doodling away one day, I produced an image that astonished me: a “wedding cake boat” that harkened back to kindergarten! I remember standing at an easel, donned with a plastic apron and wielding large, clumsy brushes loaded with poster paint. The imagery I created decades later: my kindergarten version of ocean liners with stories stacked up like a wedding cake. So much fun to paint! Then more imagery evolved, also to do with travel: choo-choo trains.
